SCIENCE: MATTER AND MATERIALS

Everything is made of matter. The properties of matter:

      - Mass: It is the quantity of matter that something has.

      - Volume: The space that something occupies.

Every type of matter that is used to make an object is called material. TYPES:

-       Natural materials are found directly in nature and include wool, wood, rocks…

-       Man-made materials are made by people from natural materials and include plastic, which comes from oil; glass, which comes from sand; and paper, which comes from wood.

Vocabulary:

·         Sand: very small fragments of rock, especially on a beach or in the desert.

CIENCIAS NATURALES:MATERIA Y MATERIALES 

La materia es todo aquello de lo que están formadas las cosas. Sus propiedades son:

-          - La masa: cantidad de materia que tiene un cuerpo.

-         -  El volumen: el espacio que ocupa la materia que tiene un cuerpo.

Cada tipo de materia que se utiliza para fabricar un objeto se llama material. TIPOS:

-        -   Materiales naturales: se encuentran en la naturaleza (lana, madera, rocas…)

-          - Materiales artificiales: fabricados por el ser humano a partir de materiales naturales. (plástico, que se obtiene a partir del petróleo; vidrio, a partir de la arena; papel, a partir de la madera…)
